How to time trades & ex-dividends

Howdy Y'all,

This is my first experience with trading a stock (NCT) near it's ex-dividend date. I'm up 20% on the stock in 10 days, with only 8 days before the ex-dividend, which is currently .25/share. The price typically drops the amount of the dividend 3 days before the ex-dividend (due to 'being on the books'). I don't expect the stock to go much higher than it currently is due to the current market. Do I hold onto the stock through the ex-dividend date or sell 3 days prior when it peaks? This isn't so much about trading this particular stock, but how to deal w/ trades in this situation. Also, what would make this trade situation different during a bull market?

Selecting AAPL Options

I've been reading up on Options trading for a little while, and it's time to get my feet wet (make my first options trade). Unfortunately, I don't know how to select the 'best choice' of options. I would like to buy Jan 09 calls and I expect Apple to be at least $200 by that time. How do y'all decide which option to go with? Do I choose a $100 strike? $130?

Who has the best charts for research?

I'm a math guy and like having justifiable signs for making a trade, rather than just an educated guess. The Tycoon Report has done an excellent job of showing me what to look out for (i.e. RSIs), but not where to look at those signs. I'd like to know where to get those types of charts in the first place. Thanks to all for your replies! If the charts are only available through various discount online brokers (Tradeking, ETrade, Ameritrade, etc...), then please let me know which y'all prefer and why.
