Do you think we should have regulated exchanges on things like [credit-default swaps?

I think such instruments should be standardized and traded on a central exchange like stocks, options or futures contracts. Otherwise there will be more corporatle failures and mores economic mess in the future. Everybody will lose at the end.nnAny other ideas. Thanks.

What will happen to the credit default swaps?

Now that banks have been bailed out and, hopefully, credit starts to flow again, what will happen to the $60 trillion credit default swaps (CDS)? These are assurances by a first party to a second party that any defaults by a third party, the borrower from the second party, will be made good by the first party. But the only asset the first party has is a CDS with a fourth party, which has one with a fifth, etc. When these dominos fall, who can stop it?

Which would be more profitable or would they balance out?

1) purchase a LEAP option ( 1 yr.out) or

2) purchase an option 4-6 mos. out, sell and repurchase again 4-6 mos.out, and possibly
 a third time.

Assume the option continued to be profitable for the duration.
