Does today's gap up on SWC look like an exhaustion gap?

What do you think, an exhaustion gap or a breakaway gap on SWC? Really very overbought right here.

Soft Commodities - surely a good long term bet?

I know there has been a fair bit of talking up in this sector recently, which does make me wary. However, considering the long-term fundamentals of it I am struggling to think of reasons why not to buy into this sector.

- Growing population = more demand
- Growing wealth in China and India = more demand
- Climate change -> crops going to biofuels = less supply
- Climate change (if you believe in it) = less supply through drought, storms, rising sea level (less fertile land)
- Developments in fertilizer technology are having less and less impact on crop yields

In short, supply is struggling to keep up with demand. Short of a major breakthrough in genetic engineering, I can't see this trend reversing.

Can anyone come up with some good reasons why not to buy into this for the long-term?

Looks to me like the latest column of X is extending now on the P&F chart of QID. That should be longer term bullish for the QID (and bearish for the Nasdaq). Am I reading this correctly?

Wow, prices are really coming down! Am sitting with cash on the sidelines, just wondering what the best things to buy will be when the correction ends. Would love to hear ideas regarding stocks or ETF's only.

Do you think current oil bubble is similar to housing bubble?

Recently OPEC Presiident said that they supply nough crude and cannot be blamed for record prices. Instead traders who treat like any other commodity and option traders at investment houses are widely thought to to be driving prices upward.

Many veteran oil analysts say this is bubble and there is a similiarities to the housing bubble. They also say Oil is historically cyclical business and higer production by the OPEC, warm winter, slower U.S. Economic growth and a flattening demand in the US can effect for these lofty prices. Unnlike earlier spikes in oil prices due to war in the Middle East, this episode does not appear to be linked to any one conflict or to any physical shortage. To my surprise one time big promoter in Oil is bearish now and have decided to dispose at currnet level. Some anaylst predict lower oil market will help to prevent recession and inflation. Please give your comment

Best stocks in the Investors Business Daily?

I am always tempted to buy stocks that are identified in IBD as doing well. However, there are several lists that they publish of stocks that are doing well. There is the New Highs list, Weekly stocks on the move, stocks up on good volume, and of course the IBD 100 list. HELP! Which list is the best to use? Also, I am always afraid to buy a stock from their lists with RS readings of 99 and EPS of 98 for fear that it is overextended and will drop 10% about 15 minutes after I buy it! Do I need a stock psychiatrist or am I safe to buy these in the hope that the trend will continue?

Impact of higher wheat prices on stocks?

What do you think the impact of higher wheat prices will be on the food maker stocks? After the announcement that wheat had gone over $10 per bushel, I was looking for a big sell off from the cereal stocks like Kellog (K) and General Mills (GIS), but it didn't happen.

What stocks do you think could benefit from higher grain prices and what stocks will be hurt?
