Does anyone have any input on Mike Williams "True Income" newsletter and the Secured Investment Contracts?

These Secured Investment Contracts supposedly have a specific amount of payout on a specific future date and a broker must purchase them for you after you supply some 9 digit code. Oh, and unless the company was to fail, those who hold these contracts are the first to be paid before general stockholders. Of course the ad makes these sound like the best investment since sliced bread...but what are they? Options? Penny stocks? A different class of stock? I've never heard of them, but most listed companies supposedly offer them.

Some that were being suggested to keep an eye out for included Nobel Environmental Power (NEPI), RackSpace (RAX), and Grand Canyon Education (LOPE). Yet, I don't seem to be able to find out anything and I would not be in a position to buy $10,000 of any of them, so there's no reason to go through the hassle of becoming an IPO trader with my brokerage company.

Last October it was at $100/share and now it is at $49+/share. Dubai World has invested significant amounts of money. Kerkorian is ancient. Is it possible to manipulate the stock to make it a takeover/buyout target? Most investment firms value it between $81-$97/share and a "Buy". What are your thoughts?

Uniform Gift to Minors Account

Thanks for answering my question about an account for my daughter, but one answer said keep the account in my name and then gift it to my daughter once she turns 18. I thought the "gift" had to be while she was a minor and then once she became 18, it was hers. Are you telling me I can "gift" once she's 18????? Also, a friend is sending me a bond for her. I thought the new bonds required you pay taxes every year on them and I also thought you had to have a social security number for her to purchase them in her name...maybe not? Thank you, in advance, for your answers!

What is the best type of account to open for my daughter and when can I do it?

After an extremely long and involved process, I am proud to announce that my adoption of my daughter is finalized. It will be 6-8 weeks before I receive a birth certificate and then I have to get a Social Security card for her (do you think Social Security will even exist in 65 years?!).

I want to be able to make trades on her behalf, but I want the money to be hers once she is older (she is a tiny toddler of 22 months now). I do not like the idea of those college funds because what if she decides to not go to college . . . so, should I open an account in both our names? her name? a Uniform Gift to Minor's? something else perhaps?

Suggestions please!

Investment Newsletters???

If you subscribe to an investment newsletter or club, it seems like you get 8 zillion solicitations about all sorts of new proprietary "systems" that return 1379% for example . . . blah. . . blah . . . blah. And if you get these solicitations for awhile, you notice they all seem to be pretty much the same but with different names and price tags attached.

Has anyone else noticed this? What newsletters do you belong to? Would anyone like to form an "email club" to exchange the info in their subscriptions so we can all save money and belong to different ones that interest us?
