Whatever happened to "Made In Japan"?

When I was younger, all the cheap goods used to say "Made In Japan". People used to laugh about that. Then for some reason that ended. Was that because their prices increased? These days everything is "Made In China".

Chaos Nantuko brought it to my attention that if the Chinese raise their currency in an effort to fight inflation, that could make the Chinese goods go up. If that happens, would another country begin to manufacture many of the items that China now makes? Could China go the way of "Made In Japan"?

Why won't the U.S. commit to solving our sure to come energy crises?

In Ca. 1943, the U.S., in order to win the race for a nuclear bomb with Nazi Germany, undertook a massive scientific program that involved some of the best minds in the country. Our government spent our tax money to "gain the edge," and history tells the rest of the story!

I submit that in order to stem the flood of dollars flowing into the coffers of OPEC, that we the people of the U.S., with our government in the lead, implement a concerted effort to find, develop and utilize the two forms of energy that are sustainable and mark the path to energy independence here and abroad. The first is Nuclear Fusion and the other is the safe conversion, storage and use of Hydrogen as public and industrial fuels. In order the accomplish these feats, it will take total resolve and dedication by our elected officials and administrations. Get rid of all the "pork-barrel" projects and do what's right for "we the people!"

The policy has pretty much been, "let the dollar fall, it helps exports and the economy". But at the end of the day, this is a debtor nation, if we allow the dollar to keep falling other countries will stop buying our debt, and then what?

I'd like to hear EVERYONE weigh in here...this affects us ALL!
