With limited funds at ones disposal, say in the 10K to 40K range, what are the arguments for and against buying outright low price stocks to accumulate more shares than would be possible with higher priced stocks. Or, alternately, of using call or put options to purchase stocks of any share price?

Warren Buffett just bet $1 million that a basket of carefully selected hedge funds can't beat the S&P over a 10 year period. What do you think?

A fund has already accepted the challenge.

Louis Navaliers thesis on growth stocks based on his book seems well thought out. Anyone know of any flaws?

I'm specifically wondering if anyone knows any problems or complications that may arise from Louis Navaliers methodology of picking growth stocks. Specifically the ones discussed in his book, "the little book that makes you rich". He looks at these criteria to decide:

positive earnings revisions.
positive earnings surprises.
increasing sales growth.
expanding operating margins.
strong cash flow.
earnings growth.
positive earnings momentum.
high return on equity

It does seem to make sense. He uses standard deviation as a warning of when to get in and out as well. Anyone see any flaws with this methodology?

Is this five dollar bill worth more than normal face value?

I have a five dollar bill that looks different from other five dollar bills, and I'm wondering if it is worth something more than five dollars. It's a Federal Reserve note, with a purplish eage and stars seal on the front, and a very large 5 in the lower right corner of the back that is also purple color. The 5 is about 3x the size of the other 5's that are printed on the back.

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with this bill?

What's your reason for investing?

Some do it for the thrill (like myself). Some are looking to just have a retirement plan. Some are looking to make a dollar into a million. Why do you invest? Is it your job? Is it necessary?

I really want people to chime in on this even if it's one word answers. You guys and gals know so much about investing. If you really made that much money, why do you continue to do it? I'm going to stop myself before I start asking a few more questions within this one.

I do it for the thrill of it right now. I can't wrap my head around putting away money for the long run yet. I need to discipline myself first in order to get everything else going smoothly.

Thanks in advance!
