Are there any investment letters out there at a reasonable price that are really worth it? It seems that most of these investment "gurus" all recommend contrarian type picks and always seem to miss out on the stocks that are in strong up trends - such as restaurant stocks in 2010.

What happens to VSTNQ common shares when the company emerges from bankruptcy?

My understanding is that when VSTNQ comes out of bankruptcy that the common shareholders will be wiped out. True that the company has huge potential value going forward, but if the common shares are wiped out as a result of successfully exiting bankruptcy then what good does it do to own common shares? I understand that there could be a different result depending on how the court acts on the unsecured credit and equity holders petition to change the original bankruptcy plan but I don't know what that effect would be on common shares. I sold half of my position, mostly acquired in the .06 range for a fantastic profit on Friday but wanted to keep the whole stake for the longer term. I was just concerned that the price could go down just as fast as it went up and didn't want to lose the gain. So . . . does anyone out there know with some certainty what the likely outcome is on common shares when VSTNQ does emerge from CH 11?

How does Edward Jones rate as a brokerage? The broker is trying to get my mother to get rid of some Goldman investments (better than 22% return) for a chance of close to the same return in five to ten years with JP Morgan.

I recently won, 500K, I am looking to take 250K of this money and pay my debts, and place a down payment on a house. In anticipation of the tax burden (Approx. 165K) I want to take 250K and place it in an investment account where I can get the best return on my money. What should be my investment strategy?
