I lost my job and have a lot of debt, the government has taken over 3/4 ths of my salary in taxes, plus everything I buy, do is also taxed. I need to make money fast with a little bit I have saved up. I need to pay off all these debts because the interest rate alone is killing me.

This is a 2-part question so I will post it in both places of relevance:

State Farm is trying to drop all homeowners insurance in my state so after being with them for over 30 years I am now “shopping” for new insurance. My State Farm agent only sells State Farm so needing an agent as well I figured I would use the Internet. The problem is that when I ask for a quote & then get bombarded with SEVERAL “follow-up” e-mails that want more personal information than the original from specific companies or agencies and I understand that. However since these follow-up offers from the various specific insurers want personal data like DOB & SSN I assume the will be pulling a credit check.
I have not replied to any of these yet because I have these two questions:
1. If they are pulling my credit, is it a “soft pull” or a “hard pull” which would count as an inquiry for each offer I respond to?
2. How much does my FICA score effect my homeowners and auto insurance rates?

put options help?

all of this is very good but what if you dont own the stock at all and just thought it was gonna go down you buy the put option stock goes down put option is now worth more who do you sell it to? who would buy the put? example..

(java) stock at $9.01
(java) $7 put option at $0.25
tomorrow stock (java) goes down to $4.97
(java) $7 put now worth $3

who would pay $3 for a falling stock that is below $5 when you can buy the stock itself for not much more?

some light on this would be great

U.S. Housing Slump Has ‘Just Begun. Do you agree?

<a target="_NEW" href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601213&sid=a8mdg7z0u7Dw&refer=home" >http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601213&sid=a8mdg7z0u7Dw&r efer=home</a>#

Talbott’s latest predictions are sobering. The U.S. is only halfway through the total potential decline in housing prices, he says. Home values will continue to deteriorate for four to five years, he forecasts.

By the time the crash ends, Talbott predicts, homeowners will have lost as much as $10 trillion, with investors and banks worldwide losing almost $2 trillion.

Talbott concludes that real prices should return to their average 1997 levels, adjusted for inflation.

How did we get into this mess?

Talbott blames everyone from average Americans who caught “the greed bug” to hedge funds and credit-default swaps.

I agree with some of hid predictions. Do you agree?
