What’s the difference between the “Browse/Find Answers” section and the “Answer a Question” section?
We’ve tried to keep the TickerHound site as straight forward as possible, but we understand if there might be some confusion.
The answer to this question is fairly simple:
Browse/Find Answers – This section only contains Questions that have been resolved. In other words, these questions have had a “Best Answer” selected for them.
Answer a Question – This section shows questions that have not been resolved. While some of them might have answers associated with them, they have not had a “Best Answer” selected yet. So that means you still have the opportunity to answer them and have your answer selected as the “Best Answer”.
How do I look for answers already on TickerHound?
Your best bet is to use the “Search” box at the top of the site. This will give you the ability to quickly search through our extensive database of finance and investing knowledge.
If that doesn’t do the trick you could try browsing through existing Answers by category. To do that simply click on the “Browse Answers” link in the top navigation bar. On the next page click on the Category link that you think the information you’re looking for might be in.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for then it means you have an original question and it’s time to put TickerHound’s primary tool to use – Ask a Question!
What's the difference between the “Open”, “Unanswered” and “Resolved” tabs?
We wanted to create a way that made it easy for you to find questions that have recently appeared, that need answers and that have been answered completely. So we created the set of “tabs” that you see when you click on the “Answer a Question” or “Browse Answers” links. Here’s a brief explanation of each tab:
- Open - “Open Questions” are ones that have not yet been “Resolved”. Meaning, the person who asked the question has not chosen a “Best Answer” for it yet. So you might see questions in this list that have a few answers and some that have no answers. As long as they haven’t had a “Best Answer” chosen you still have a shot at answering the question and earning some points!
- Unanswered - “Unanswered Questions” are the ones that have no answers at all. So if you’re looking to be the first one to answer a question (and increase the likelihood of having your answer chosen as the “Best Answer”) then you’ll want to click this tab often.
- Resolved - “Resolved Questions” are questions that have had a “Best Answer” chosen for them. You can no longer answer questions in here but this is the perfect place to come and browse for answers – you can definitely learn a thing or two here.
