What is Community Protection?

Community Protection is a general assignment every member of the TickerHound community is asked to perform.

Just as you’d look out for your neighbors, we request that you do the same for your neighbors in the TickerHound community.  So if you something suspicious, dodgy or downright fraudulent, then please:

  1. Warn other members
  2. Mark the content as abusive by clicking the “flag as abuse” button.
  3. If it involves a Profile or a Profile picture then e-mail customer service immediately at .

Why should I care about Community Protection?

You should care about keeping the community safe, clean and trustworthy for a number of reasons – it’s the right thing to do, helping others builds goodwill, it keeps the whole site running smoother, etc. – but at the end of the day, it benefits YOU!

How so?

Well, let me tell you.  We’ll ask you to put yourself in the shoes of a stock promoter or SPAMmer for a minute.  Imagine what goes through their head when they try to attack a new system and they start posting fake stock recommendations, opinions, junk posts, etc and instead of the content being removed immediately, it sits there for days.

They’re very likely to attack that system again.

But if it’s removed immediately and they don’t get any type of benefit from it, they’ll likely stay away for a while, if not forever.

This keeps them from scamming other members and scamming you.  It also saves you time sifting through junk questions and answers!

Rest assured though.  We have very sophisticated filtering systems on our backend that are constantly evolving and getting smarter – but for every 1,000 abusive posts we catch, a handful slip through.  That’s why we need you to keep your eyes peeled and do whatever you can to help keep TickerHound a fun, educational and safe place to be.

What should I be on the lookout for?

You should be on the lookout for the following:

  1. Stock SPAM or stock promotional content – So if you see someone blatantly pitching a stock and that stock trades on the pink sheets or OTC market, it’s likely a scam.
  2. Penny stock recommendations –  While some big companies were once penny stocks, it’s our experience that the majority of penny stock recommendations are simply covers for illegal money making scams.  So be cautious and do your research when you see a person recommending a penny stock.
  3. Foul language – TickerHound won’t tolerate foul or abusive language – so if you find someone to be crude or disrespectful by using foul language in their Q&A’s, then please report it.

Who should I contact if I see a tremendous amount of stock SPAM or promotional material?

Our filtering system isn’t likely to let this happen, but in the rare case that it goes we ask that you contact customer service immediately by e-mailing: .

We have people on standby every day of the week looking for abusive posts and they’ll remove the content as soon as they get your e-mail.
