What’s a “Watch list”?
A Watch list is a little tool we built to give you the ability to track a Question in real time, without having to keep coming back to the TickerHound web site every day. We wanted to make it easy for you to follow the questions that interest you the most.
So if a question you’re “Watching”:
- Receives a new answer
- Gets marked as Resolved by the asker
Then you’ll find out about it right away!
You’ll receive a Notification in your mailbox and on the Notifications areas of the website when you login next.
What are my “Favorites”?
Your Favorites are exactly what the name sounds like - your favorite questions and answers you’ve found on TickerHound.
Think of it as your library of great financial education!
It’s slightly different from the “Watch List” because this area is completely private - only you can see your favorite Q&A’s. The questions in this list also stay here forever (or until you remove them) - as opposed to the “Watch List” which gets cleared out as questions become resolved and there’s no more activity to track.
So if you find some amazing “Resolved” questions that you want to keep for future reading, then just add them to your Favorites and you’re all set!
What’s the difference between my “Watch List” and “My Favorites”?
Great question! Here are the major differences between these two features:
- Your Watch List is there to help you stay on top of ACTIVE Q&A’s. So you’ll get real time notifications when new answers come in or when questions get resolved. Your Favorites are more like your private reference desk - you can bookmark questions and answers for future reference.
- Your Watch List is regularly cleared out as questions get Resolved. While your favorites are more of a permanent addition to your investing library.
- If you’re “Watching” a question, then other TickerHounds will know about it - it’s a public piece of information. But if you add a question to your “Favorites”, that stays private.
How can I Remove a Question from My Watch List or My Favorites?
Easy!
To remove questions from either of these lists simply click on the “My TickerHound” link at the top of the page. Then choose either “Watch list” or “Favorites” from the drop-down menu.
On the next page you’ll see a list of questions - towards the right of each question there’s a little “X”. Click that “X” to remove the question from your list.
REMEMBER: To make it as convenient as possible for you we automatically remove questions from your “Watch list” as they become Resolved. You will get an email notification when this happens so you’ll be able to decide if you want to move this question to your “Favorites” list afterward.
How can I see who else is Watching a Question?
Just go to ANY question we have on TickerHound and look on the right-column. You’ll be able to see all of the other TickerHound’s who found this question interesting.
Then you can go to their Profile pages to learn more about them.
I had a question in my Watch List and now it’s gone - what happened?
Don’t worry!
We did this for your sake - each time a question in your Watch List is “Resolved”, we send you a real-time notification in your mailbox and then we remove the question from your Watch List.
This way you can follow a lot of questions without the worry of your “Watch List” becoming too clogged up.
After the question is resolved you can decide if you’d like to add it to your permanent knowledge base by adding it to your Favorites.
