Our Vision
Have you ever had a question about money, finance or investing and didn’t know where to turn? Are you tired of relying on the advice of financial “professionals” and not having a firm grip on your financial future?
We’re here to change that – by creating an open platform for investors to help other investors we hope to help you take your financial knowledge to the next level. So if you ever have a question about finance or investing, TickerHound should be the first place you come to get the answers.
Our Story
Well, if I’m going to tell the TickerHound story, I might as well start at the beginning...
The term “Ticker Hound” is an old Wall Street expression which referred to investors that would sit and watch the ticker tape all day long, searching and waiting for the perfect trading opportunity to appear. These were investors who wanted to stay sharp, informed and have a leg up on the rest of the other traders out there.
So in that same spirit we’ve created TickerHound.com – the first independent financial education site where investors are helping other investors get a leg up in the markets.
From the beginning we knew that TickerHound “the web site” could NOT be about TickerHound “the company” – it had to be about YOU. You and the millions of other people who want to take control of their financial futures.
That’s why one of the first decisions we made was that when people came here for advice, we wouldn’t restrict them by having a group of “experts” answering their questions. There are more than enough experienced investors out there who are willing to share their knowledge and experiences with other investors – in fact, if you’re reading this, you’re probably one of them.
So when a person visits TickerHound.com they can both ask questions and answer questions. By having thousands of different perspectives and opinions available to you, we think you’ll get more varied and ultimately, better answers to your questions.
We also wanted it to be easy for investors to come here and benefit off of the knowledge of those who came here before them. So we allow you to search through and browse our archive of answered questions – think of it as a “financial Google”.
Our goal has been, and always will be, to educate and empower individual investors in the most effective way possible. While it’s not perfect (yet) we think we’ve created something very special here that works towards that goal. We hope you’ll join our mission of educating other investors and find the site to be as useful as we dreamed it would be.
But TickerHound will only be as good as you make it – so please send us your feedback and send it often, your opinion means the world to us!

Our Team
Wayne Mulligan
Wayne founded TickerHound in late 2006. While the site has gone through a number of iterations since its inception, its mission has always remained the same: to educate and empower individual investors. Wayne began this mission almost a decade ago with his first job on Wall Street where he was responsible for managing individual accounts for retail investors. He believed then, as he does now, that retail investors have the ability to take their financial futures into their own hands with a little bit of work and the right tools at their finger tips.
Prior to launching TickerHound Wayne served as the Director of Web Strategy and Chief Investment Officer at Tycoon Publishing. He began his career in technology at BPS SoftWare where he was responsible for developing and maintaining a number of award winning America Online add-in applications.
Wayne graduated from Columbia University with a degree in East Asian Studies.
George Zhao
George currently serves as TickerHound’s Technology Guru and Lead Developer. Before joining TickerHound George worked in a number of IT and software related positions.
At his most recent position George was an IT manager and Database specialist at the century old law firm, Kelley Drye & Warren LLP. His focus was primarily on the in-house technology infrastructure and managing the firm’s databases and record keeping operations. George focused his efforts on architecting and streamlining process and workflows as it related to imaging, retention and vital records.
Before that he served as the Lead Web Developer for Lifestyle Media, Inc., a magazine publisher that had over a dozen titles under its belt. At Lifestyle, George was responsible for managing and developing over nine web sites for each of the company’s magazine lines. George began his career in web technologies at Community Connect, Inc. – the parent company of BlackPlanet.com, AsianAvenue.com and MiGente.com.
He graduated from Pace University with a degree in Information Systems.
Our Partners
nclud – nclud is our web site design partner. It’s almost wrong to simply call them “designers” because that makes it sound like all they do is play with Adobe Photoshop all day. nclud is more like a team of “creative problem solvers”. It was a pleasure working with them and I’d recommend them any day of the week.
BlueFlavor - We came to them with a lot of technology and they helped turn it into a visual reality. BlueFlavor provided an extremely valuable suite of services ranging from Information Architecture to Usability best practices consulting. They were an integral part of this project - I'd recommend checking out their blog at: blog.blueflavor.com to get a feel for who they are, how they work and what they do. Thanks guys!
James “KC” Ng – James is our freelance illustrator who we were lucky to find in such short notice. He was responsible for all of the “investor group” illustrations that we have on the site. James was a professional in every sense of the word. You can check out a small portfolio of his at: www.picturetrail.com/koncept116
I’d highly recommend him to anybody looking for quality illustration work:
