I definitely wouldn't short Microsoft here - this company has only just started to break out of a massive base building period, they have some exciting products in the pipeline and as they bulk up their ad business you can bet that margins will continue to improve. But we are in a funky market and I'm not sure if I'd step in and buy shares today either.

The question to ask yourself is whether you would want to own the stock in question at the strike you are looking at.

It's definately hard to keep your finger off the trigger and we probably haven't hit bottom yet, however, most everything is already in oversold territory and it won't be there for very much longer.

If you truly want to short something, then go for the ultra shorts instead of individual stocks. Much less risky. Unless of course, you have lots of money and a high risk tolerance.
