short trading

I was reading an article which it cited some stocks had a short rating of -5 .. -14. What is the significance of that.
The article went on to say that any good news on the stock would drive the price up.

You might be talking about the "short squeeze" rating - there was a question on it a week ago that DaveDiggz answered really well:

Basically the idea is that the higher a short squeeze rating, the more likely the stock will experience a short squeeze (and hence shoot up rapidly in price) if the market moves north.
