Narrowing of market breadth?

Is it my imagination or is the breadth of the stock market becoming more and more narrow. Here we are, first week of January, traditionally a good period of time for the market. But it seems like the only stocks moving up are energy, gold, natural resources, alternative energy, etc. Financials, techs, homebuilders all down again. Even SOLF had what appears to be a reversal day. I am getting very bearish. Any other bears out there, or am I alone in the woods?

I don’t see any bear market in 2008 for stock market. History is not always repeating.
This time we see bull markets in all type of assets all over the world. So there are plenty of money. There may be some corrections but market will recover quickly. Because still current see-saw pattern in the stock market is intact. Whenever there is a down in the market there is a support. No body wants to see America going into recession. If it happens some countries know that their export will be affected. We must not forget and I don’t think you will get consumers like in USA in any other planet. Also they don’t want US Dollar to come down much. Because some countries have assets in US Dollar. Final result is there is possibility of appreciating US Dollar and Dow Jones until 2009.Today every body has to depend on each other. If some thing happens to USA or China it will affect badly for world trade. Then we can see total collapse in stocks markets, commodity markets and real estate markets through out the world. Oil will dip US dollar 25 per barrel. Therefore, at this time no body including commodity producing and manufacturing countries want too see Dow Jones to crash. That is why some sovereign funds are waiting to invest in developed countries whenever there is an opportunity particularity in USA. Currently stock market is flat due to credit crunch. Once this problems solve and oil prices comes around US Dollar 80 per barrel Dow Jones will appreciate rapidly. Other thing I noticed is some intelligent investors leaving from high priced commodity and real estate market and entering into stock market through out the world.

Personally, i'm waiting to get a clear sign in either direction. Personally, i want to know if dow will hold 12800 before seriously committing to either direction. I'm not willing to place a bet on it, but i'm guessing the Dow will break below 12800, and at that point, bearishness can really kick in
