Homeowner Association Management Opportunity

We are having a time trying to get the community to pitch in to take over the board positions. In HOA booklet it describes a situation in which if the board members are not able to be replaced that any member of the association may petition the court to manage the association and be paid a salary for the same. My husband would like to make this request to the court. He of course will sit down with the lawyer first before making this petition. Since this is a fairly new development all of the storming forming and norming has been done, complete with lawyer and insurance of board members intact. This has been taken care of by our current pres. who does not want to serve another year. My husband will be finishing up his second term in the treasurer's office. Any comments welcome and if anyone has had any experience doing this or knows of any resources of interest, would be helpful.

In some states, such as my state (FL), in order to manage a homeowner's association, one has to have a Community Association Manager's license (CAM). Check with your state guidelines or attorney to see if that is required in your state as well.

Also, it may not be legal for him to be both the Manager of the association, as well as a board member. Being the manager can be a time consuming job, so be prepared for that.

Good luck!
