How long does it take to get a brokerage account up and running?
I've been trading through my bank (Citigroup), but I'm interested in opening an account on a different service...how long does it take to get up and running?

You can open an accouny in a matter of an hour or so., and be able to actively trade it as soon as your money transfer clears.

I was able to help my brother open a ROTH IRA with Fidelity in about 2 hours, it took a little longer for the first money to transfer and be accessible(2 bussiness days if I remember correctly).

I recently opened an account with the Australian office of OptionsXpress. I was Singapore at the time. Transferring the money took a day or two but my account was up & going in about 3 days I think.

A day depending on who you go through and if you need to send any documentation or tranfer anything in kind or clear funds. Get on it a day lost is a day wasted!
