In a bear market , Some stocks are moving fast and reaching new highs in a short term./ medium term bull market . When the short term bull market truns to bear which stocks will move downwards more? Recently gained stocks or others. Or any other method to find which stocks are sutiable for shorting?

Pay more attention to sectors. Sectors play a huge part in the value of the stock, probably adding about 50% to the price of the stock. Investorsintelligence.com has some excellent material on following sectors as well as stocks.

As 7milionin7years said bad ones will go down. In a bear market and side way market value stocks, stocks with good prospects, high dividend stocks will go up and will not come down badly.

In general, high volatility stocks are prone to drop fast just as they can climb rapidly again. They tend to fall fast if high expectations are not fulfilled.
