Will this earthquake in China affect any major industries?

They evacuated offices in cities as far away as Beijing -- this has to have some type of economic impact.

That's probably the wrong question to be asking right now -- I'm personally thinking more about what this means to the people who live in the regions effected and how this will impact their already sub-par quality of life. But in any case, like last winter's storms, this will probably increase inflation in the short run, combined with the olympics we could see an increase in prices throughout the year - at least on a consumer level - which will certainly impact spending. This could obviously have an effect on the markets there but I think we'll have to wait and see how things progress over the next few weeks to be sure.

I don't think it will globally. It might slow things down a small bit but will correct itself soon enough. By that I mean there will be plenty of companies in China willing to pick up the slack.
