Do you invest in any foreign markets?

My brokerage charges $50.00 to purchase an overseas security. I hold a few from the AUX which has many good stocks that have large floats and relatively low prices. It's well regulated and transparent; so is the new Toronto exchange. There are also "Chimerica" stocks, of Chinese new companies, headquartered in the U.S., whiuch only trade in the U.S.
Most of my trading accounts are tax-sheltered, and the withholding of taxes at source by, e.g., Canadian companies, are unrecoverable --- in a taxable account, the taxes would serve to offset U.S. income tax as a tax credit. This is for those countries that have "Tax-Treaties" with the U.S., but Australian companies don't have to deduct taxes oin dividends paid to U.S. securities' holders, to encourage foreign investment.
