What does everyone think about the US dollar?
The policy has pretty much been, "let the dollar fall, it helps exports and the economy". But at the end of the day, this is a debtor nation, if we allow the dollar to keep falling other countries will stop buying our debt, and then what?
I'd like to hear EVERYONE weigh in here...this affects us ALL!

Let the Federal Reserve keep their greedy hands off the dollar and leave it go where it should go.Mr. Bernanke is more worried about inflation than the economy. Why hasn't the Fedeal Reserve ever been audited????? It is a private corp. Only we Americans can get rid of it ,,,by educating one another!!!!!

If the local currency appreciates against other currencies continuously for a longer period it is not a good sign for the economy in the long run. Property price will come down and unemployment will rise. Some industry especially export oriented will bankrupt as well.
Similarly if the local currency depreciates continuously against other currencies it will also affect badly for the economy. Property price will come down and Industry depend on imported raw materials will affect badly.
Therefore there should be balance in the foreign exchange market to minimize economic problems.
Lower US Dollar is one of the main factors for current high inflation in the USA. I think at this moment higher US dollar will help to control inflation and once this happens we will see increase demands for products and services.

Wel looking at it from another view The absolutely disgusting size of the U.S. national debt might have a bearing on the feds attitude to the dollars fall. If you can pay off a one dollar debt with 50 cents itr might be possible to get it reduced a bit. Also as a major world power for many years the U.S. dollar is embedded in the worlds financial investments and it is in their interest to try to prop it up or at least try to stabalise it,,"As the dollar goes.so go their investments" A word from granny..At one time the British Pound Sterling was as good as Gold and backed by Gold...I got 15.00 for each pound in 1948./ since the demise of the Gold standard backing currency markets have mostly floated. and in a lot of cases they are not worth the paper they are printed on. Does anyone remember Mexico in the days of 48% interest and the subsequent freezing . Not too long ago the Brazillian' Real' was all but worthless...look ar it now! Not much more than 10 years ago interest rates were 18 -20% and people were still buying houses but inflation eventually caught up and cut backs ,job losses ,bankruptcies ,divorces, foreclosures all followed. And here we are again.....PITY they do not teach financial history of the world to our kids (just the last 100 years would do) In my experience it takes about 10 years from peak to peak with nasty valley in between. I have been thru 3 of these. The easy answer is the hardest one to follow..Do not spend what you do not have and always save something for a rainy day this applies to countries and people but countries think they can avoid it by printing more fake money.

Maketdrop I really got interested about your second answer.
MarketDrop I was following this Tyson company couple of months. It just went out of my radar recently. I think they were trying to purchase largest chicken company in Brazil as Well. So something is going on the chicken industry now and we should do some research on this company now.
If they can produce alternative energy definitely their share price will go to the roof in the future. Because their earning will come not only by selling chickens but also supplying fat to manufacture alterative energy and by manufacturing bio-diesel in the future.

Just look at the value of the once-mighty dollar versus any other currency and you can tell what the world thinks - " weak" ( at best ).
