Survey: What's the average number of trades you make per year?
I'm at roughly 7 - 6 buys per year (sells depend on how the buys do)

Depend on the country.
Examples:
In one country I did three buys for there stocks in small quantity for the last 04 years as a long term investment.
I did sell once 2/3 of my holding in financial company before the collapse of credit market.
In another country I have done trading more than 50 times for the last two years to get experience and to study the market. I did not do any trade last month and this month.

50-100/year, but I hold a lot of leap options which require me to exercise to sell before expiration and I hold over 100 positions for diversification.

Generally over 200 trades per year and increasing due to more option and futures trading.

For my long-term (non-retirement) portfolio I make a trade maybe once a month if that. For my long-term (IRA) portfolio I make about 4 trades a month since I sell covered call on some of the positions if it seems apporpriate. In my short-term portfolio I trade about 3 to 6 times per month, sometimes more during certain months. I'm counting entry and exits as separate trades. I also close out all positions in my short-term account end-of-year to make tax time simple (I don't use mark-to-market accounting).

About 25 per month, spread over several accounts each with a differnt focus.
On my blog (see profile) much fewer trades are posted. Average holding time of closed positions (16 winners in a row in 2008) is about 7 month so I'm not a flipper per se.

College Kid,
I trade as much or as little as I think I can profit from but usually 10-15 a month, but that includes selling covered calls and puts on long or short positions I already own. Also 10 to 15 is a buy and a sell.
