Only through the companies that benefit via them (e.g. Nike, etc.). But there's no way to invest directly in a professional sports team.

One way to invest in a sports team is to buy it. I heard the other day that the NFL football team the Pittsburgh Steelers is for sale. If that's not a viable option keep reading.
After doing a search I could not find any sports teams that are currently publicly traded. But, there have been in the recent past. A possible alternative would be the company Sports Properties Acquisition Corp. symbol HMR listed on the AMEX .
