chart readers,pull up a prophet chart on (ha) look at 1 yr chart. now look at 12/28/07 see the spike. stock opens at 5.05 high 79.43 low 5.00 and closes at 5.01.with volume of 73,100 then go over to the volume selling spike of 4,871,907 and little change in stock from open thru close what causes these. thanks in advance ROY

I'm not quite sure I'm clear on what you're talking about. I don't see a spike on 12/28 - it was a low volume day. The large spike on June 27th, I'm not quite sure what that was due to. Might be a misprint or a secondary offering of stock -- you'd have to pull up the SEC filings to be sure.

Yea, i usually chalk those up to an error of some kind. It definitely messes up the scale on the chart, and its really annoying, but i don't really see another explanation.

When you say the 1 year chart I assume you mean the daily chart over a one year time span.
When you see an extreme price swing that is out of the norm it is most likely an error. To double check I go to a different time chart such as the weekly, monthly, or if it's close enough a 1 hour, 30 minute, or 15 minute. If no other chart reads the same it's probably an error.
I'm not sure about the following- Is it possible if someone is exercising an option to purchase shares, would it show up on the charts? I don't know. Maybe someone can answer that.
