Were the consumer confidence numbers a positive sign or were they too modest to matter?

In my opinion, "too modest too matter", sounds about right. And let's also remember this is only a single reading. Consumer confidence has been falling all year, this was the first time we saw even a glimmer of positivity in these numbers. We'll have to see if this is a fluke or a trend on the next consumer confidence report before we bust out the champagne and have a party.
