Why are there so many regions of the Stock exchange? Sp, Nasdaq, Ect??

Easy. There are that many people that have their own idea on how to run a market and the money to start one. There is some consolidation going on now and some of the markets are going away or being merged into others, so they will be like a branch of the bank. Over time, as different assets traded, the need for a common place to conduct business led to someone starting a trading floor.
