Yeah I was reading about this too.

I don't really see how the automakers can win. All contracts are up for renegotiation at any time and the steel producers aren't being completely unreasonable here. The demand for iron ore has shot up dramatically over the last year and if the steel producers' costs are increasing, they have to pass those down the line to someone.

At the end of the day the consumer will be hurt the most due to the final cost of the automobile.

But this might be just the thing this world needs right now. Pollution, rising costs of fuel, raw materials for cars, etc., we'd all be better off with more sophisticated and efficient forms of transportation.
