How does the Fed bailout of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac affect stock holders (if at all)?

I expect that in the short term, financial stocks may stabilize or gain some value due to relief that the Fed acted in a responsible and reasonably prudent manner. For the longer term, though, the banks are still a mess.
