Wholesale prices are up big time - how long until this trickles down to consumer prices?

All in due time. Producers/manufacturers can't shoulder the costs themselves forever. Eventually they'll need to pass those costs down to the consumer. Some goods will do better and retain their level of demand (those companies will earn above average profits - like the gas companies), other goods will see their demand drop off (luxury items, etc.). It's all about price elasticity. So my advice, find companies that will continue to move product even when the price goes up.
