What's the best online brokerage?
Ease of use, accuracy, speed of execution come to mind, as well as cost and research tools available. There must be many published articles on the subject. Who's currently best at meeting all these criteria?

Thinkorswim (TOS) comes to mind.
www.thinkorswim.com
As does OptionsXpress.
https://www.optionsxpress.com
TOS is cheaper.

Since you're in the US, I don't know if you have a similar outfit, but for those members like me who live up here in the Frozen North (Canada) there is a company called Serviscor (based in Toronto - the capital / centre of the world, lol) that ranks on-line brokerages quarterly. Their website is serviscor.com. For the last several reporting periods their #1 pick (in Canada) is CredentialDirect.

Scottrade. If and when your brokerage balances exceed $25K it gets a lot better.

Assuming you mean stock broker (as brokers come in several forms- stocks, commodities, and financial exchange (FX) ). I do my research elsewhere and then trade using TradeKing. They charge $4.95 per trade. They do have research tools, but I am more of a technical trader. I don't have much need of their research tools. So, I really don't know how good their tools are. But their charts are a little lacking. I do like OptionsXpress charts, but they charge to much commission per trade. So I use their charts and trade using TradeKing.

I agree with Dusty on Scottrade if you are interested in equities only. They are on the other hand are very lacking for the option trader

I have been using E*Trade for quite a while now. I don't have much experience with other brokers, but E*Trade Pro is an excellent tool for monitoring the market and my portfolio on a real-time basis. It isn't the cheapest at $9.99 per trade for active traders, but the tools for covering stocks and options are excellent.

What I did is in the Forex trading with online brokers such as
EGlobal Trade & Finance Group (http://www.eglobal-forex.com) or FxPro (http://www.fxpro.com) and using an automatic trading tool (Expert Adviser) from Viking234 (http://www.viking234.com)

Scottrade not much use if you want to purchase non U.S. stocks. They require you phone in any orders and pay high commissions.TD Ameritrade is Canadian owned ,allows online trades in foreign stocks(listed in OTC pink sheets) for $9.95 a trade and is a better choice if you deal in Canadian resource stocks. Also if you have enough assets to qualify , APEX accounts offer lots of free services.
