Is Dell going to makeit and remain independent or do you think they'll eventually merge with someone?

It's funny, I was just thinking the same thing about Dell. This company has gone through so much turmoil over the last few years it isn't even funny.

First it was a huge customer service debacle which turned into a public "Dell bashing" in the blogosphere. Then they had exploding batteries, an over reliance on desktops while laptops were heating up and finally Michael Dell had to pull himself out of retirement to take the reigns again.

Now the company is still getting smacked around because quite frankly., things have changed and Dell is no longer competing with the same competitors. HP is leaner and meaner than ever and smaller companies like Acer are beginning to chip away at market share.

Not only that, but Apple is selling laptops like hot cakes!

So what's Dell to do?

In my opinion, I think Dell's too big to get acquired but I think they're going to be on the lookout for smart acquistions to offset their product line issues and to help them break into new markets. So we'll still have an independent Dell, albeit a much different one than we have today.
