I've been in private placements as low as $500 Five hundred dollars.
It depends on the company, what stage of listing it is in, what exchange it is on, who is involved, etc. etc. etc. etc.
Basic rule, if you're a Joe Average investor and you're offered a private placement it's probably a good short sale. Especially so if the stock price went up remarkably in advance of the placement price being set.
