To a degree it does. I mean, we HAD to bail out AIG. With $1 trillion in assets on its books, we couldn't let that company fail. So the government's breaking some old "rules" (if they could even be called that) in order to preserve the system...that's fine.
We'll get into trouble if they don't know where to cross the line.

In the short run it will work. It will give some temperary stabilization to the market.
However it will affect badly for the economy in the long run.
