Solar...alternative energy is slightly under the radar still. Quietly, solar projects are expanding with more breaking ground in the U.S. albeit slower than the rest of the world. Thin film PV seems to be the new technology because of its light weight, higher light absorption, lower shipping/labor cost to install, lower material cost, higher manufacturer output capacity.
Solar was recently showcased at the Democratic National Convention. Abudabi is including solar within architectural planning and will soon be a model city for alternative energy.

Take a look at an OTC BB stock with the symbol RPTN, Raptor Networks Technologies. It is currently very beaten down because of low sales. It does have technology that may be the future of the internet and a core patent to protect it. This company could prosper form both sales of its own equipment or patent royalty income.

The switch equipment is faster, lower in cost, lower in power consumption, approved for purchase by federal agencies, and the key point is that it is distributed switching, which makes it invulnerable to denial of service attack. Remember that Russia did successfully attack Georgia's internet system when they invaded.

So, I think that, even if equipment sales stay poor due to CISCO momentum, the core patent is so valuable that some switch company will buy RPTN, hopefully at a price that would give a good profit to early investors.
