How can I check a stock broker's track record?

Is there a place I can look up a broker's past recommendations and trades?

I believe it's Hulbert's Digest that rates the major newsletters. I can't help you with brokers. That service may not even exist.

That information is not available and if the stockbroker did spew out a good record there is no way to check it for accuracy. A bad record is always hidden.

What you have to do is regard a stockbroker as an order taker who does what you want him to do. In general, never take the advise of a stockbroker to buy something. They are just pushing the sales agenda of the brokerage with the intention making money for the brokerage.

With the above said, you have to learn to invest for yourself. The CRISS course is a good start. If you want to learn Options, then Bill Johnson's www.optionsatoz.com is a good place to start.

Once you have some investing knowledge, then an on-line brokerage is the way to go for the lowest cost commissions. I would recommend Think or Swim or TD Ameritrade as good order takers and executors.
