Is GE no longer the "bellwether" it once was? Is Google the GE of this generation?

The interesting thing about GE to me is that it is a big investor in wind turbines. Who would have thought it of this conservative corporate behemoth? So perhaps its earnings are down for the right reasons--investment in the future? I don't make recommendations, especially in this crazy time, but I think it's too early to count GE out. That having been said, I don't really think that there is any one bellwether stock or even sector that is consistent.
