master limited partnerships (MLP'S) how can I distingwish them when reading the news paper from other stocks

How do I recognise a master limited partnership stock when looking up stocks in the paper. Are they the one's with LP behind the symbol?

Exactly, the L.P at the end of quotes like:

Energy Transfer Partners, L.P (ETP)

signify that it's an MLP.

If you aren't sure...because some securities listed don't have "L.P.", go to the quotation sites, such as Yahoo, MSN, etc, and then go to the company's investor relations site. This is also the best way to avoid getting taxed by out of state royalty trusts, getting sheltered accounts disqualified by holding ETF's that sell fractional shares of bullion holdings, etc.
