I'm pretty sure you need a Series 7 in order to take the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) exam, but the CFP exam is much more difficult. It spans 3 days and has some seriously in depth questions.
Investopedia provides a decent overview of what it will take in terms of study time, exam structure and even gives you a rough study guide.
