Is now a better time than ever to invest outside the US or commodities?

I'm not going to invest in banks. That's for sure. Is anyone altering their investment route and switching to commodities and or foreign investments?

Neither political party favors any comprehensive tax increases. A crisis in confidence will force the government to borrow money at higher interest rates. Additionally, there is speculation that the Fed may soon cut lending interest rates as much as 75 basis points. The crushing interest payments on the national debt, anticipated increase in demand for Fed funds at a lower rate, as well as the massive financial liability under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (bailout), alternatively, must be met by the Fed increasing the money supply; the textbook definition of inflation.

The dollar has experienced a temporary reprieve against foreign currencies only because the European central banks are beginning to feel the damaging effects of loose monetary policy.

The global financial mess must first stabilize in order to overcome the short-term trend of falling commodity prices caused by corporations and consumers cutting expenses, i.e., reduced demand. Therefore, right now may not be the most opportune time to invest in commodities.

However, given the inevitability of inflation, the weak dollar, and the long-term trend of increasing demand vs. decreasing resources I believe that commodities will soar in value within the next 18 months and beyond.

Not unless you plan on shorting. Oil is heading down. Oil is a key element to getting commodities to market. As oil goes so goes commodities. I don't antisipate oil heading back up any time soon. Demand is down which means lower prices. The entire global markets are in a bear market and could possibly be heading into a recession. This will keep oil demand down.

Global markets are doing worse than the US. The US lead off this global market downturn and it will be the US that gets us out. As soon as the US markets find a bottom and starts heading back up is the time the get into foreign investments.

I think there are lifetime opportunities in some sectors now and these sectors will outperform the market in the next 12 months and beyond.

If you are going to invest in commodity I think it is better to do some research now.

You can get some ideas if you look at some of global investors how they are investing intelligently worldwide. They are reaping benefit globally When one market is not performing well, their money will be in the correct market in the correct time.
