If the US nationalized banks wouldn't it make sense to nationalize health care next?

A part of me thinks nationalized health care would be the right thing in as far as controlling health care costs.
But the practical side says this would be a night mare people would not want.

Lets look at what would happen. You'd have a government who would chose your doctor for you in all likely hood , and they would control how much doctors would earn, there by taking away much of the reason doctors get in this field(perhaps driving a huge shortage in doctors) and with lower pay for doctors, might we expect lowered care standards?
Then you have the medicine side of the issue, the price of meds would again be controlled by your favorite people in government. This would make profits almost non existent for Prescription meds manufacturing, there by taking away their incentive to develop new meds. I don't think this sort of medical care has worked out well for any nation that is currently using it.

I think it can happen if health costs go higher and higher in the future .and if they fail to manage health systems in professional manner and in an affordable way to public.

In some developed countries public health systems works better than private health systems.

Actually health sector have become a one of the bubble sectors today. Today you get all types of players in this sector without any knowledge of health sector such as private equity groups, investment banks etc.

Even after recent meltdown in the stock markets this sector is over priced by more than %50.

We must stay away from this sector until we see real value.

The government in health care doesn't make me sleep good at night. In other countries that have government health care, the standard is that they have good care for simple issues, like preventive exams and such. For more exotic or expensive procedures, they normally have a waiting list. So if you don't have some unknown or hard to diagnose issue, it would be ok. That said, it is like having insurance here that only covers 50k a year. Bill processing needs to be fixed and the out of control lawsuits also needs to be controlled. That would go a long way to getting health care cost under control.

I would prefer single-payer universal health care as spelled out in HR 676 (which has more than 90 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives; info at www.pnhp.org) to nationalized banks. It would basically eliminate the for-profit insurance industry, so it will be REALLY hard to get passed, but what business does profit have in providing health coverage, anyway? It just means an incentive to deny as many claims as possible, and inserts claims representatives between doctors and patients. Another good site is www.healthcare-now.org
