I agree that China can probably lead the rest of the world out of this recession, I recently traveled in China for a month, and had the experience of dealing with China Mobile, when I bought a phone.in Kunming, Yunnan....The store was huge, right on the main business street, and staffed by about 50 salespeople, who were assigned to teach customers about particular brands of phones, no lines and a lot of personal service....The cheapest phone was about $20.00, and the most expensive oover $500 (US)....my friends were eager to help, and kept suggesting the high priced versions, based on color and style...they were dissapointed that I did not get a fancy one, but the sales men were just as professional when I choose the cheap one and bought pre paid minuets.....All of this took about an hour, during which I saw about 50 other customers engrossed in learning how to use the phones with the individual sales people....there was no rush, and people seemed to be having fun....Everyone I met had a cell phone, and they worked in elevators, and even in a mile long train tunnel....the signals seem to be much better than my AT&T Cheap phone at home. Based upon my anticdotal evidence, I think that The Chinese will contunue to buy cell phone service rather than land lines, and that there is a huge number of people who will be getting cellular as their incomes grow. As for BAIDU, I will defer to others, but I would not bet against it either. Rob Roark, bambooisgrass.com
