Some of the best "free advise" you can get is right here! The posters to this site vary in experience from professionals to rank amateurs but you get points of view that are worth consideration. When responders to the questions here give answers that are consistent, that should be a clue. When their answers differ significantly, that's also a clue.

And pay special attention to those who reply frequently (those with high "scores" like EthanR and Oldman). Even if you don't agree with their analysis, their comments are always worth consideration. And isn't that what you're looking for?

Also, from time to time, an "expert" will answer a question. I'm a Canadian tax specialist and I've done this on some tax questions, so if you're looking at a tax matter in Canada, watch for what I say. And there are others here who are similarly knowledgeable in other areas.

Having said all of that, a phrase of caution that I sometimes give my clients when they call with a "quick question" (i.e. don't send me a bill for this) ... "Free advice is worth twice what you paid for it." It's worth your consideration but, in the end, the decision is always yours. Govern yourself accordingly.
