Is there reason to believe the "January Effect" will help out the market this year?

Or, are things just too out of whack?

At Big Money Options, we believe that investors may begin to anticipate the "January Effect," or the historically annual pattern in which stock values rise dramatically after the first of the new year.

Some studies show that the biggest January stock market bounces occur after the worst years in the market. Small-cap stocks typically bounce the most, as investors rush back into riskier assets in an attempt to capture maximum gains.

With short-term Treasuries yielding negative returns, one could argue that risk has been overpriced and pendulum is set to swing the other way.
