Seems like grasping at straws to me. Pretty crowded field already, with Apple And Rimm with a huge base of followers already it would be tough to crack that market. Possibly if the price point is cheap enough to pull some business it makes you wonder what kind of margins they would have. That being said stranger things have happened.

Definitely PC sales will come down in the next 03 years. Technology sector will hit hard. Some technology companies including mobile companies will become bankrupt due to severe competition among companies.

Mobile and telecom sector also will hit hard. Those who can introduce innovative products for discounted prices will survive in the current market environment.

If Dell can introduce correct cell phone for the next decade then they will succeed. Moreover if they can make use of current low cost environment to make low cost phones they will have advantage over others. If they can reach local and international markets in the correct time in the correct way they will succeed. Once dell builds up their market share they can expand their businesses slowly to take advantage in the future.

As a result of this other high cost competitors will have less business in the future. There are signs some are weakening their position in the business world now.

If they can not build up successfully their new products it is better to concentrate in their core businesses. .

While they are technically capable of doing cell phones, I don't see this as a easy win for them. The market is full of smart phones, and they would be the last to the dance. Their name would carry some sales, but no premium. I don't think this is a good gamble on their part. The odds of not making it are too high for me.
