Kobla, I do not know what war you are talking about.
In today’s world we get all types of wars. For example there are political wars, economic wars, separatist wars and tribe wars etc.
In addition we get company wars. Some companies and banks want to destroy their competitors. So they try to use different types of methods. Of course there are business wars almost all the countires.
I think if we can stop all these wars and invest in infrastructure, human and social developments there will be plenty of employments opportunities and investment opportunities. Really it will become global country with strong economy. No body will fight for their identity.

If the US pulled out of the middle east, the number of troops would not change by much. The ammo makers would start to cut back on production, as would the parts makers. However, the military needs some rebuilding, so there would not be much of a noticeable change for quite some time. And then, the numbers would probably pass by unnoticed, or unconnected.

readytoretire has it right. All military equipment has a "shelf life" beyond which its not
likely to be used in warfare where everything has to work. Go by David-Month AFB
in Tucson, AZ and see all the used aircraft, unfit for combat duty no longer. Some think reason we have warfare is to get non-combatent nations to "pony up" for our police action- Bush did in 1st Gulf War to save OIL suppliles for Germany/Japan
I suspect we'll simply shift focus from Iraq to Afghan/Pakistan where nukes exist &
Al Quedae hides out, meanwhile enlistments are up from laid off young workers.
No, the real cause of unemployment is DownSize or CapSize decisions all face.
When gov't issues BailOuts, it serves to Float the Bloat and keep us employed,
but in the long run, in a global economy we will see a drift in wages downward.
because we have to compete with Slave Labor of China and India- too bad for US
