S&P500 EPS estimated at approx. $60/share for 2009, does it seem possible to see the S&P at 600 (P/E of 10)?

There will be a lot of PAIN before markets return too some semblance of sanity! A P/E of 10 is hardly a disaster, they should for the most part be single digits based on actual profitability of most companies.

The normal P/E for the past 15 + years has been 15, or so (See http://www.bullandbearwise.com/SPEarningsChart.asp ). So, when you look at the earnings estimates,(see http://www.comstockfunds.com/files/NLPP00000%5C026.pdf ) , you can see there is reason for the bears to look forward for stocks to go down. If earnings start coming in higher late this year, the stocks will take off.
