This kind of depends on what exactly you want to trade and what investments you are interested in trading in. As you want someone that can be easily contacted if there are problems and that you can easily transfer funds into and out of. Likewise you also want to be sure that it is a broker who will handle the exchanges and equity types that you want to trade in. For example, I use TD Ameritrade, which while not the lowest price, is one of the lower priced "discount brokers" here in the U.S. (thus not sure if they would necessarily be a good choice for you), as they not only handle the U.S. exchanges, but also the OTC and Canadian exchanges (as I do a lot with the Toronto and Toronto Ventures exchanges.

Thus your best bet is to simply decide what exactly you are looking for and then do the research to determine what brokers will meet your needs.
