There are plenty of medium and long term opportunities for small investors in any market.
Stocks to watch and buy:
Selected undervalued farm and agriculture stocks
Stocks with less debt and demand for their products for the next 10 years
Stocks in neglected and next rotating sectors
Stocks targeted for acquisition. ( For ex: There will be part and 100% acquisition in some sectors in some countries such as egg and chicken companies, hotel sector, food sector and selected commodity companies)
Small investors should think margin of safety as well. Avoid hot sectors now.
Stocks to avoid and sell:
Sell stocks in tech including softwares, jewellery and diamond sectors, property sectors, airlines and travel, Auto and airlines, electronics, leather and retail and commodity sector.
Asian property sector is worst than a bubble. In some cities real estate price should come down by more than 70%.
Small investors without holding power should apply different market strategy.
In India small investor should invest in agriculture sector now. For example Poultry is one of India's fastest-growing agricultural sectors, having expanded from backyard production lots into a major commercial activity the past two decades. The world's sixth-largest poultry meat producer and a growing middle class eager to eat new sources of protein. In addition they have export market and raw materials are available locally. Cost of production for egg: one of the lowest in the world.
