While I would be reluctant to make a prediction about this, I'd have expect it to hit the 5,000's range at some point in the coming months, but don't know that it will in March 2009. However if the worlds economies continue to slow, and the companies that make up the DJIA continue to show weakness in their earnings I'd expect them to decline a fair bit further before things get better, but then I tend to follow small-caps much closer than the big guys anyways (substantially more upside potential if you can figure out which of the small caps will achieve big cap status down the road and possibly even become part of the DJIA).

According to some analysts DOW will hit 5000 in the 2nd half of this year.
However some expects it during next three months.

As Ad said it it better to follow small caps. Some global small caps could become leaders in their respective sectors in the next 5 years. Current leaders have mountain of debt in their book.
This is the time to invest in next rotating sectors and small caps. Specially in the next 18 months.
