I think the problem is in how certain services (Yahoo! Finance and Google Finance) classify "shares outstanding". It seems that SATS has multiple classes of voting stock (Class A and Class B shares), however they don't seem to trade under their own symbol. So some services (Yahoo!, Google, etc.) combine the number of Class A and Class B shares while other services (Like the NASDAQ.com) only show a single class of shares when calculating the market cap.
However, after going through Echo Stars annual report it's clear that the higher number is correct. They state that their "Average Shares Outstanding" for the year was 89.3 million - which would put the company's market cap around the $1.4 billion mark.
